The Hindu temple of Agniswarar is located in town of Kanjanur which is 18 km from Kumbakonam. The main deity in the holy place is "Agniswarar" or Lord Shiva and the presiding deity is Sukra (Venus). As per the Saivite, Sukra is situated within the abdomen of the statue of Lord Shiva.

History :

The Shukkra Bhawgan temple was wording from Leaders Vijayanagara and Chola times. This holy place with 2 pragaram has a raja Gopuram of 5 storeys at its entry. This Sthalam of Lord Shiva is related with Shukran. Lord Bhrama is supposed to have endowed with a perspective of Shiva's wedding with Parvathi.
