Description
Vemulawada is located in the northern side of Sersilla and 36 miles from the Karemnagar on the Karemnagar, Kama Reddy bus way. This place is indebted its significance to the blessed and famous sanctuary of Sree Rajarajesware, and personification of almighty Shiva. There is Koniru (River) known as Dharmagandam, the water of which contains several remedial possessions, thousands of pilgrims' from all division of the state gather here specifically during Mahasevaratri and Kalyanotsavum of the idol. The other temples of significance are that of Ananta Padmanubha Swamy, Bhimeshware Swamye, Kodandi Rama swamy, Kase Visweswara and Rajasware.
History
The puranec edition has it that almighty Siva after having resided at Kashe, Chidambarum, Srisailum and Kedareswarum chose to stay at Vemalawada. History has a record that Vemalawada was governed by succeeding ruler - the Ikshwakas, the Satavahanas and later by the Chalukyas who made it their state capital. The monument on the sanctuary also depicts the traditions of Buddhism and Jainism. A solo characteristic of the sanctuary at Vimulawada is also a home of arround four hundred years old mosque within its property. It is assumed as the mosque was constructed as a compliment for a muslim devote. It is said in several myths that Sree Raja Rajeshware Swamy lingum existed in Kreta Yuga, Trita Yuga and Dvapara Yuga. This holy set was visited and worshipped by many saints in the ancient period of the Indian history and received a never finishing significance in this divine pilgrimage. Still the main idol is almighty Shiva at this location (Raja Rajeshware Swamy is the only manifestation), Sree Kodenda Rama Swamy Aalayum, Sree Ananta Padma Swamy Aalayum also have the significance from long period time for many people. Because of that reason this point is also known as Hare Hara Khistram.
Importance/Significance
The sanctuary is 1 of the oldest and influential ones devoted to almighty Siva, commonly called as Dakshena Kashi, or it can be simply said as “Benaras of Southern Indians”, constructed by “Chalukya” emperors during 750 century A.D and 975 century A.D. The sanctuary is named for its present idol Sree Raja Rajeswara Swamy. The present idol is Sree Raja Rajesware Swamy, known as Rajana. To right hand side of the present idol is the deity of Sree Raja Rajesware Devi to left hand side is the deity of Sree Laxmi Sahetha Siddi Vinayak. The whole sanctuary is named for its presiding deity Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy, and personification of almighty Shiva. It homes several sanctuary depicted to other idols including Ram , lakshman, Lakshmi, ganpathai, almighty Padmanabha Swamy and almighty Bhimeshware. Architectural type include its open gallery and a Dharma Gundum, a holy manmade lake where followers take bath then carry on for darshan and whose water is assumed to have remedial healings, just the Banaras's holy river Ganga. Every following year at the period of Maha Shiva Rathre, more than 500,000 people visit Vemulavada. The illumination of the blessed diyas (Gande Deepam) is considered as a favourable by the visitors visiting the temple. Even though followers make donations to the present idol in several methods, the most significant one is Kodi Mokku, submitting of (Nandi Bail) to God.
