History
Subramanya village once was entitled Kukke Subramanya. As per Shankara Vijaya's outline, Shree Adi Shankaracharya stayed below for a while. Sri Shankara himself identifies this place as his own 'Subrahmanya Bhujangaprayata Stotram' because of 'Bhaje Kukke Lingam'. This Sanatkumara Samhita connected with Skanda Purana illustrates the place and the spiritual consequence related to it. MANJESHWAR or Manjulakshetra with its Puranic background is celebrated for its Temple dedicated to Srimad Anantheshwara, that is Shri Shiva accompanied by Shesha or Anantha.
