History
The place in which Lord Shiva blesses devotees was once full of anthill which is built with sands by white ants. There is large number of ant-hill in the area and in this Snakes used to live. The meaning of ant- hill in Tamil is Pampu putru. Rain water is used to get stored at the bottom of anthill which looks like a pool. The area is under the rule of Bommi Reddy and the god appeared on his sleep. He instructed the ruler to construct a temple in which he stands. On next morning the ruler went to the area and asked his soldiers to remove the anthill and put the Lingam beneath of tank with water. The lamp is behind the Nandi (Official carrier for Shiva) will rotate if devotes put their hands to rider their wish. The Lamp will rotate in rare cases only and its mystery is still unresolved.
