History
This Thiruvakkarai Vakra Kaliamman Devi Temple-Thiruvakkarai,Vanur,Villupuram, Tamil Nadu is a twelth century temple and the main attraction of this entire temple is Maa Kaali. This idol of Maa Kaali is slightly bent to one side with eight hands. This is a very rare idol of Maa kaali and has a small baby as her ornament to her ear and a skull of a dead person as her crown.
Importance/Significance
The Kaali maatha of this temple vanquished demon Vakkrasura. That is the reason why Kaali Maatha is called as Vakkrakaali. Lord Shiva in this temple is also very famous for providing good health and wealth. Lord Shiva is having three faces. There is a big Linga which is having 1008 lingas in it. This linga is called as Sakasra Lingam. It is on Full moon days, special prayers are offered to Maa Kaali. If you can visit the Maa kaali temple for continuous 3 weeks and offer prayers then you will be able to fulfill your wishes.

There are other deities of this temple like Lord Shiva, Vadivaambigai and Lord Chandrashekar and Lord Vishnu as well. The Chandramouleeswarar of this temple is having three faces which is not seen anywhere in India. Another fact about this temple is Lord Varadharaja Perumal is having Prayoga Chakra. Inside the temple you will find Indrani, Varahi, Kowmari, Pirmani, Vaishnavi, Chamundi and Dhunmukhi Saptamaathas. For lighting Diya's in this temple, you will have to use only Ghee. And for worshipping Goddess of this temple, you can use lemon garland. It is believed that you should worship Maa Kaali from your heart and you will be free from all your sorrows and problems. Many people who were having problems related to their properties or related to the marriage then visiting this temple for three weeks can clear all your problems and you will get married. You will have to perform ritual on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays. For getting relief from mental and physical illness, perform Pooja in full moon days.

Pancha kannika dhosha is a special ritual or Pooja performed in the temple for women who are waiting for good husband and good life. It is believed that the prayers of the devotees are heard by Maa Kalli during this Pooja and their wishes are fulfilled with the blessings of Maa Kaali. There is a special way to do pradhakshanas in this temple. You should first do 5 pradhakshanas towards your right and then four pradhakshanas towards your left for relief from any bad actions against you.
