Pooja for Dheerga Sumangali Life/Eternal Married Life/Husband Long Life is a kind of the religious and the traditional ritual that is performed to invoke the blessings of the God Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is usually performed for the women who are married and are leading the Sumangali life. For each caste, creed and religion in the Hinduism, this pooja will be considered and followed up in different ways. It is mandatory for someone who performs this pooja should be aware of the concept called the Kudumba sampradayam which is otherwise called the family tradition. The main significance related with this temple is that in this temple, the Lord Shiva is incarnated and worshipped in the form of the Swayambu linga. Here though the main incarnation is the shivalinga, the goddess Parvati is also given a place close to Lord Shiva. Hence many devotees from different parts of the world come to this temple and to perform the Dheerga Sumangali Pooja or the popularly called Sumangali pooja. The main festival celebrated in the temple would be the Maha Sivaratri that is considered to be the day when the Lord Shiva married the Goddess Parvati. Hence this day would be used by the devotees to perform the Mangalia Pooja or the Dheerga Sumangali pooja.
The Dheerga Sumangali Pooja or the Mangalia Pooja is frequently conducted in a way so as to get the blessings from the Lord Shiva and the Goddess Parvati. Usually performed and found significant on the day of the Maha Sivaratri, the pooja conducted in the temples both God Shiva and the Goddess Parvati are incarnated simultaneously and is found very powerful. It is described in the Puranas that Lord Shiva married the Goddess Parvati in the great day that is marked as the Maha Sivaratri. The Pooja is usually performed for the married women or the engaged women in order to please the God. The main significance of the pooja is to pray for the longevity of their spouses, prosperity and happiness in the married life. It is also a sort of thanksgiving to the mother via this pooja.
