Lord Ganesha is considered to be the Lord of all Lords. It is believed that before starting something new or something different, one must always pray to Lord Ganesha and Lord Ganesha will bestow them with success in the good task that they are undertaking. Another tale of Lord Ganesha is known to be famous where the Lord was kind to his devotees.
One day in a small village, a little boy was walking with a fistful of rice and a spoonful of sugar. He walked on the streets shouting, “Please make some kheer for me with this rice and milk and Lord Ganesha will reward you”. But nobody made kheer for the little boy. Then he reached a small hut where a poor woman was living. The woman said that she could make kheer but she didn’t have a vessel to cook kheer in.
The little boy went to the neighbour’s house and brought a pot. The woman took the rice and milk and added sugar to it and let the kheer cook in it. The boy said that he wanted to have a bath first and said that he would have a bath on the banks of the river and return in some time. After some time, the boy did not return and the woman looked at the kheer. She was shocked with what she was witnessing.
The spoonful of milk and fistful of sugar had turned into a kheer that was filled in the pot to the brim! The woman was dumbfounded as to how that happened. She waited for the boy but as time passed by, she started getting tempted to eat the kheer without the boy. She took a small portion of the kheer and offered it to a Lord Ganesha idol in her home and then took a plate and started eating. She started eating more and more as the kheer was delicious. Then the boy returned.
He asked the woman where her kheer was. The woman felt ashamed that she had eaten the kheer without him and looked to the pot to offer the boy with the kheer that was left in it. To her surprise, the pot was still full of kheer! Then the boy smiled at her and revealed that he was Lord Ganesha in disguise and revealed himself to her. He said that he had also eaten the kheer with her since she had offered some of it to Lord Ganesha before eating which was himself! Pleased with her devotedness, Lord Ganesha then blessed the woman with health, wealth and prosperity.
Hence, Ganesha is considered to be the supreme lord and worshipping him is believed to rid an individual of all the obstacles in his/her lives.
