As the title rightly suggests, very few temples can match the aura of the Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu. The abode of Mata Vaishno Devi is the religious place where devotees travel to with immense belief and faith. This cave temple is dedicated to Mahalaxmi, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali, the three supreme mother goddesses of Hinduism and is one of the most important religious pilgrimage sites of Hindus. Being one of the most revered places of worship, it is recognized as one of the Shakti Peetha's that fulfills the desires of devotees, who with lots of hope visit the place from every corner (national and internationally) for the blessings. A geological study has indicated that this holy cave age is nearly a million years whose reference is found in Vedic literature about the place which consists of worship of the female deities.

The journey can be completed on foot, by electric cars, ponies, cable cars (from certain spots only) and also from palanquins (palkis). The events and gatherings at Vaishno Devi temple are open to the masses throughout the year and the best season is to travel is considered June and July as the Chaitra and Sharad-Ashwin and Hindu New Year events witness a lot of rush during the peak season.
