The temple is a large structure of mandapams or halls with exquisite and unique work of art and sculptures. The musical pillars and the huge stone image of Hanuman are noteworthy features here.
The temple was built in the 17th century and is famous for its sculptures.
It is one of the few temples in the country where the Trinity- Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesha are worshipped together. The linga, “STHANUMALAYAN” represents the trinity in one form. The top represents "Sthanu" name of Shiva (Mahesha), the middle "Mal" name of Vishnu, and the base "Ayan" name of Brahma.
