Kooram Adi Keshava Perumal & Koorathazhwar Temple

This particular temple is located in a small village called Kooram, which is at an approximate distance of 8 to 9 Kilo meters away from the placeKanchipuram and 77 Kilo meters away from Chennai. The chief deity of this temple is ShriAadhiKeshavaPerumaland is facing towards the east direction. The other deities that reside here along with him are Shri Devi, ShriBhoomi Devi. Shri Devi &ShriBhoomidevi are in the standing position. The temple also contains sanadhis for ShriAndal, ShriNamazhwaar, ShriVishwaksenar, ShriThiruMangaiChakrathalwar and ShriNarsimha. Kooratazeshwar is an incarnation of Lord Ram. He is the greatest example of humbleness and guru bhakti. Nammalvar has known to sing 11 pasurams to praise LordAdiKesavaSwamy.The GodAdiKesavaSwamysymbolizes 'Foremost Friend'. Legend says demon Kesi was defeated by Lord AdiKesavaSwamy. Demon's wife pleaded to the River Ganges and also to River Thamirabarani & created destruction, but it went in vain and she succumbed to the Lord. Hence, the generation of the rivers made in a circle came to be called as Thiruvattaru.
