Description
The pooja for all round improvement or development is mainly termed as Abhivruddhi pooja. It would be usually performed by those devotees that have faith in God. This pooja is very famous in the Akshayapureeshwarar temple, which is situated in the Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu. As the temple houses both lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as the main deities, it can also be termed as the Abhivruddhi Nayaki temple. The pooja is performed with loads of devotion and cleansing. The main aim of the pooja is to please God Shiva and Goddess Parvati in different ways, as a means of being blessed with the gift of lifelong achievement or an improvement in one's life, which will be full of happiness, wealth and prosperities.

Located in the Tanjore district of the state of Tamil Nadu, the temple, as the name indicates, is fully dedicated to Lord Shiva and his disciples. The main deity of the temple is referred to as Abhivruddhi Nayaki - who provides Abhivruddhi or the wealth and prosperity that is required to lead a happy life. The temple is said to be of historical importance. It is almost 1000 to 2000 years old and is well known for its famous architecture and interior designs that are left untouched by the natural calamities that shook the earth.The temple deity is found to be very powerful in nature and provides a positive response to devotees that come here from any part of the county. Though the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, several sub deities are also given a lot of importance in this temple. The sub deities' include Lord Parvati, Goddess Durga, Lord Vinayaga and Lord Aanjaneya or Lord Hanuman. The temple is exactly located in the Tanjavur district of the Tamil Nadu state. Being a temple that is solely dedicated to Lord Shiva, as elsewhere, the main festival that is celebrated here would be that of Maha Sivaratri. The temple houses the deities of both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Hence, the temple is of great importance with respect to performing the pooja that will lead to development or the advancement in the life of the devotee

The Abhivruddhi pooja is usually performed by the devotee's with a lot of devotion. Goddess Parvati, of this temple, is very powerful as like that of Lord Shiva. People usually believe that if something is offered to Lord Shiva alone, he would not be happy. So, no blessings will be granted. Hence people go to this temple that houses the deities of both Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Parvati so as to perform the pooja and to get the blessings from both of them. This pooja can be performed individually at homes as well, but with the great deed of purity and good health of the family holders. If performed by the violation of the rituals, it would worsen their lives for sure as the deity is believed to very powerful.
