Description
Azhagiya Manavalan Perumal Temple also called Thirukozhi or Nachiyar Coil in
woriyur, a suburb Tirucchirappali in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu is dedicated
to the Hindu God Vishnu. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is
worshipped asas Azhagiya Manavalan and his consort Lakshmi as Kamalavalli.
History
The temple is believed to be in existence from the
the 7th century . The temples were painted during
the early 1800s and has images of Matsya and
Narsimha Avatars of Vishnu, Vaishnava, Acharayas
, Azhwars, Vaishnavite mythology, the law and
justice and dharma as enunciated by Ambarisha
Importance/Significance
The temple is one of the few Divyadesams where the
goddess has prominance over Vishnu. The temple is counted
as the second in the line of Divyadesam and Srirangam
Ranganathamswamy Temple.
