Description
Located in the Tiruparamkundram village in the Madurai district of the Tamil Nadu state, the temple is very much dedicated to the devotion of the Subramanian Swamy or is otherwise called as the Lord Muruga. The exact location of the temple is around 12 kilometers away from the Madurai town that indicates that the temple is pretty much connected by the various cities of the states.
History
The history of the temple is taken back to the ages where one of the most famous saints got the real view of the lord Murugan here in this divine place. It is after this belief that the temple was constructed here at this location giving importance to the Subrahnmianian Swamy who was utilizing the peacock as his vehicle. The temple is believed to be built around 2000 years ago and is the same from its beginning till date without any polishing works. It determines the strength and resistive power of the temple that was marked unshaken even during the various landscapes that happened in different states of the India. There was a famous hill place that was popularly called as the Gandhamandanam where the temple is expected to be located. The temple that is located in the top of the hill gives the clear cut and the panoramic view of the city at a glance. The temple is of great significance in the history of the Puranas as the temple is considered an abode to the famous sage Paramgirinathar and the Subramanya. It was many times honored and different compositions that were the results of these saints to reveal the importance of Lord Muruga to the open world. Though the main deity of the temple is the Lord Muruga, the sub deities of the temples are also considered equally important. The notable sub deities of the temple include the Lord Vinayaga, Lord Hanuman, Goddess Durga and the Nagaraja or the king of the Serpents.
