Description
This is an 8th-century Hindu temple. The temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha. It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is one of the oldest structures in Chennai. A puja here opens new avenues for people seeking better career prospects.
History
The temple was built in the 8th century by the Pallavas, subsequently expanded during the reign of the Cholas and later by the Vijayanagara kings in the 15th century.

In Sanksrit, the word 'Parthasarathy' means the 'charioteer of Arjuna'. It refers to Krishna's role as a charioteer to Arjuna in the epic Mahabaratha.
