The Trichy Uttamar Koil Perumal Vishnu Temple-Trichy, TamilNadu is amongst the 108 divyadesams and a temple for Shaiva-Vaishnava unity. This temple comes next only to Srirangam. It is in this temple that all of the three idols are present with their consorts in separate sannidhis. All the seven gurus: Vishnu Guru, Brahma Guru, Sakthi Guru, Siva Guru, Deva Guru, Subramanaya Guru and Asura Guru are present here. It is the only temple where Lord Brahma himself is present as Lord Guru facing South in a separate temple with the vimanam and Urchava moorthy. Lord Brahma is usually seen only in the form of the koshta moorthy in the outer prahara walls of the holy sanctorum and has a separate shrine here. You can also see Goddess Saraswathi in a separate temple only in Koothanur. She is present here in a separate sannidhi with her vimanam.

In this temple, you will come across chariot festivals of Shiva & Vishnu during the Tamil months of Vaikasi and Chittirai respectively. Lord Ranganathan Utsava murthy of from Srirangam is brought to this temple once a year and it serves to be an important occasion. Vishnu and Shiva are taken out in simultaneous processions in the Tamil month of Karthigai.The yearly festival of brahmostavam for Perumal is in Chithirai-April, and that of Shiva during Vaikasi-May. Lord Ranganathar of Srirangam utsava vigraha is being brought to the Kadhamba theertham here during the Masi festival.
