Description

The temple got its name from Lord Karkadeswarar who is a swayambhu moorthy. The Lord Shiva Linga here has a scar due to Kataka, (cancer) a sea animal.

Importance/Significance

Even incurable diseases can be cured in this shrine. There are two Ambika idols in this temple unlike other temples. One is named as Apoorva Nayaki and other one is named Aru Marundhu Nayaki. This temple has magical powers to eradicate any kind of diseases.
