Agartala Tripura Sundara Devi Temple is located in Tripura, Udaipur City which is 55 Km away from Agartala and 3 kilometers away from Udaipur. It is a temple which remains unaffected by the modern advancements. In this temple the Goddess Parvati is worshipped by varied names like Tripurasundari, Tripuravashewari and Soroshi. It is believed that the king Dhanayamanika in the 15th Century had a dream of the goddess Parvati and thereafter he had constructed this temple with complete faith and religious ceremonies. Goddess Kali with the name of Chootu Maa is even worshipped here. The shrine here is also called as Koorma peetha which resembles the shape of tortoise. This temple is worshipped for power.
History
As per the Hindu Mythology, Lord Vishnu with his Sudershan Chakra has cut off the body of Mata Sati into 51 pieces. The right foot of the Sati Mata was fallen here and in the city the rest of the pieces were fallen, the villagers have named them Shaktipeeths. The main attraction of the temple is its shape that resembles a tortoise. Within the temple there is also a small lake known as Kalyan Sagar. In this lake the extinct fishes and tortoise can be seen.

It is believed that the temple is worshipped to earn the blessing of power and courage before or after starting new personal or professional life. The main reason the pilgrims worship the temple is to get the eternal bliss and psychological peace.

According to the Hindu calendar, during specific occasions large amount of tortoises can be seen. Lot of people even feed these fishes and tortoises with Puffed rice called Muri. The temple bells during the Aarti do create a positive vibe and charismatically creates a special place for the almighty. Each of the festivals here is celebrated with great vigor and pomp. The temple priest here never misses even a single day and performs daily pooja and archanas whole heartedly. The devotees here are mostly seen offering sweets and hibiscus flowers to pay their tribute and respect to the goddesses.

Though Tripura is a small town but the events here are celebrated with great vigor. During Diwali there are special fairs organized by the people. Throughout the year as per the Hindu calendar there are many festivals, but Diwali is considered to be one of the most special. Even the Goddess is offered with new ornaments, apparels, flower etc with lot of affection. In large number the crowd can be seen for offering their prayers and seeking bliss for the families. Throughout the day various pooja are offered. In the fairs there are varied religious programs also conducted to entertain the guests.
