Description
Located in the city of New Delhi, the temple is one of the rarest of its kind in the state and in the country. The temple is located in the middle of the state and is well connected by all other states of the country. Exactly 20 kilometers away from the railway station, the temple is very famous as it is dedicated to the sage Valmiki.
History
The temple is one of the rarest temples of its kind and was built across the capital of the country. The temple belongs to the ancient age and was built across the early centuries. Being more than ten decade or older temples, it is marked as one of the major temples in the country. It was believed that Valmiki, who is considered as the developer of the Hindu epic Ramayana, is the core reason for the temple. Valmiki is the composer and developer of the Sampoorna Ramayana and is considered as most important sage of the age. The king of the medieval period decided to give respect to the sage Valmiki who was considered important. Hence in line with the astrological concepts and rules, the temple was constructed with the main incarnation as the Sage Valmiki. Initially, the temple was not much popular as people disguised to consider the saint as a lord and to worship. Later on, because of the power of the sage Valmiki became popular and the temple had gained its popularity and is still worshipped in the temple.
Importance/Significance
The temple is fully dedicated for the worships of the sage Valmiki who is incarnated as a main deity of the temple. The temple also includes the sub deities and the main roles often Ramayana, the main Hindu epic. Some of the main sub deities of the temple include the Lord Sri Rama, Goddess Sita Devi, Lakshmana, and the first brother of Lord Rama, Bharata, the second brother of the Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman or the Lord Aanjaneya. This is one of the unique temples of its kind that is located in the India. The temple is important for its theertham or the temple water body that is located in the inner side of the temple, close to the main deity worship. The water in the theertham or the pond is used only for the devotional purposes and no one is allowed to near there. During the festive days, the devotees from different tares and cities visit the temple to get the blessings from the Lord Rama and the cause of the Ramayana, the main deity sage Valmiki.
Festivals/Events/Gatherings
Every day is dedicated for the Valmiki. The temple is suspicious for the festivals that it celebrates. There are no specific festivals as every day is considered as a special day. The temple will be decorated with lights and deepams for the weekly days that call upon the devotees from different parts of the country. Especially, though the temple has Valmiki as the main deity since he is a maharishi, the Lord Rama and Sita Devi are also incarnated.
