Description
The centre of attention of Mandsaur is master Pashpupatenath sanctuary. Pashpupatenath is a synonym of almighty Shiva. This creative deity is constructed-up in a sleek manner, glowingly black coppery fantastic stone-block. The sanctuary is located at the depository of Shivna River. The sanctuary has 4 doors in the 4 different directions but entrance is situated in the western side. This effigy's heads which are located in the west are representing scary picture of almighty Shiva. This heads mark-up point towards three rasps which is in bun-carved hair with venomous snakes, up-coming 3rd eye and opened underlies. In the middle knotted hair are adjacent snakes that are familiar to total destruction omkar.
History
Almighty Shiva was called Pashupate by almighty Vishnu and other gods during the period of Tripura Samhara, when almighty Shiva became the god of all evil spirit and shattered Tripura, the 3 cities of false impression, which was governed by the asura Kamlaksha, Tarakaaksha, and Vidyunmali who were creating trouble by attacking sages and gods. It is also considered in Shiv Purana that any human being, counting human beings, is in the control of his own self-esteem, needs and ignorance, is known to as a creature (pashu) and only Pashupati can alleviatly frees them. According to the Hindu myths, the sanctuary of Pashupatinath was built 100s of years ago. Bhagwan Pashupatenath is the main idol in the sanctuary. There are 2 main magnetism of this sanctuary one is that it has 4 entrances which releases to 4 different ways and second is that the Shivalinga in the temple has total eight faces. The sanctuary is built on Shivna River which is about 90 ft in length, 101 ft in height and 30 ft Wight.
Importance/Significance
The exceptionality of Pashupatenath sanctuary is that the Shivaling preserved here consists of 8 faces. The idol is parted into two different parts which 4 faces on the top part and left over 4 faces on the lower part. The sanctuary has 4 doors in all 4 directions – North South, East and West. The East facing head is peaceful and silent in the type of Yogeshwar while the west facing represents the Rudra Roop. The south facing is the most intense and stunning among all. The north facing represents almighty Shiva of old times; on the other hand this face is so filled with happiness which looks as if almighty Shiva is going to break open in laughter at any point of time.
Festivals/Events/Gatherings
'Monday' is believed to be as one of the most favourable day to worship Pashupatenath. It is assumed that the Shiva ling have been appeared from the waters of the Shivna. During the rainy season, the leavel of the water of Shivna River rises up and the Shiva ling gets rinsed away by the sacred water (Jalaabhishek). Mahashivratri celebrations are celebrated at Pashupatinat sanctuary draws Hindus from all parts of the state.
