Description
The temple is fully dedicated to the Goddess Parvati is located in the divine station of the Tanjavur in a special village called as the Pattukottai. Also famous as the Abhaya Varadeswarar temple, it is one among the temples with significant importance and the historical importance.
History
The temple is believed to be constructed by the Rajas of the Tanjavur. This temple is considered to be one among the Alwar temples of the Tamil Nadu. It is believed that the temple is comprised of the five Sudarshana Chakras. Henceforth, the temple is well known to be the famous Sudarsanas. Goddess Devi is given more importance in the temple as the main deity and is located in the large shrine in the middle. The temple is located exactly 12 kilometers away from the Tanjavur district of Tamil Nadu.
Importance/Significance
Although the main temple deity is of the Goddess Devi, the temple is significant for its unique sub deities as well. It includes the Lord Ganesha, Lord Maha deva, Lord Maha Vishnu and Lord Muruga. The Nagaraja or the king of nagas is also considered equally important. It is believed that as per mythology, the Lord Parasurama, one of the human incarnations of the Lord Maha Vishnu, had also visited the temple for some divine purpose that also increased the fame, and popularity of the temple to a large extent to get well marked in the history of the Puranas.

Festivals/Events/Gatherings
Since the temple is more dedicated to the Goddess Parvati in the incarnation of the Devi, the major festival that is celebrated in the temple include the Navaratri that lasts for nine days , with each day equally important. It is exclusively believed that during the nine days of celebration of the Navaratri, the Devi appears in the three different forms. In the first three set of days, the devi is all set in the form of incarnation of Durga that destroys or diminishes the bad sins that are prevailing in the world or the Universe. The next set of three days is dedicated for the Goddess Lakshmi that provides the prosperity and wealth to its devotees wholly throughout the life span. The last set of three days is exclusively dedicated for the Goddess Saraswati, as goddess grants blessings for the educational prosperities. It is on this incarnation of the Devi that the new children would enter into the world of getting education on a special day called as the Mahanavami and the Saraswati Pooja. The Navaratri festival is celebrated every year for the duration of nine days and will fall in the month of October to November alternatively.
