Description
The temple has a unique idol of Lord Muruga with six faces seeming to pierce the earth and rising like a phoenix. The Balasubramaniya temple holds a very high religious significance especially for the devotees of Lord Muruga, who is seen here with his consorts and blesses the devotees.This single temple comprises of three Lords and they grace the devotees under a single roof, they are namely Lord Shiva with Mother Ambicaalong with Lord Muruga.This temple is a complete delight, meaning like, Ekambareswara, JuradevaJambukeswara, Bhairava,Dakshinamurthi, Vishnu,Moon & Sun along with their spouses, SapthaKannikas, Lords Nataraja, planetsKetu&Rahugrace their devotees from differentsanctumatprakara. The pillars bear the sculptures of Mother Durga, Manmatha speaking tonnes of the mastery of the architecture of the Chola temple. The temple remains open from 06.00 AM to 12.00 Noon, and from 12.30 PM to 08.00 PM
History
RajendraChozla, during hisrule in that region, he went decided to go hunting one day. While he was walking through, he spotted a swine feeding its babies. The king aimed his shot on the swine demonstrating his might cause of which the babies were left in discomfort. Witnessing this, Lord Murugarose before the cubs, victuals milk and satisfied their hunger. Witnessing this, as a mark of regret for the wrong actions committed and hence the king built this temple.
Importance/Significance
The river bank of Ganga is where the temple resides, which is also considered nothing less sacred than the blest Ganga. There exists, on the river bank two trees knowns as Marudha trees out of which one is male and another female. This temple is alsoreferred to asBrahmmatheertha. Murugahas six faces and grace the visitors with all of its six merciful profiles accompanied with his spouses namelyValli&Deivanai. The devotees are consecrated by GodRajendraChozheeswarar& Aram Nayaki from their ownsanctum. This temple is popularly known as theBig temple in popular terms as the place was contrived by LordRajendraChozha. There is a Peacock Mandap opposite the temple of Lord Marugua, the signature of twenty seven stars and twelve zodiac signs displayed on its roof. There is also an idol of Lord Mrutyunjya and hence a lot of people celebrate their specific birthdays here.

It is a massive temple in the Theni district. It is much more popularly called Balasubramaniar templeeventhough Lord Shiva has been the presiding lord. This temple is famous for any health problem; people bathe in the sacred spring and pray to Lord Muruga for relief. Devotees perform abishek and pujas to Lord offering vastras.
