Description
The Saldi Pimpleshwar Mahadev Shiva Temple Mehsana Gujarat is a Hindu temple which has a lot of importance as it is a temple which was built to honor of Lord Shiva. The temple is located in the village of Saldi which is situated in the District of Mehsana, Gujarat.
History
The village of Saldi was formed about 200 years back by Salvabhai Patel. It was at this time that an incident took place which lead to the construction of the temple. A cow herder by the name Petha Patel was seen releasing milk everyday at a special location, situated below a Pimpal tree. The Jaladhari was later discovered at this site. This sort of natural offering of milk by the cow without any sort of help led to the belief amongst the people that Lord Shiva existed at the site.Petha Patel in the year 1143 constructed the first temple based on the Hindu calendar. Importance/Significance
The Saldi Pimpleshwar Mahadev Shiva Temple Mehsana Gujarat consists of the temples of Lakshmi Mata, Umiya, Amba and Nag Devta. It also has the figurines of Hanuman, Parvati and Ganesha etched in stone inside the temple. It also has a natural spring.
Facts/Mythology
This temple does not contain the Shiv linga. Rather it consists of a Jaladhari which is nothing but a streaming flow of water from an artesian basin below the ground. As the water is natural it has acquired religious significance by the worshipers and another indication of the presence of Lord Shiva at this site. This temple is also popular because of its surrounding rural landscape and Bili Trees, Pimpal trees, and Vakhada trees of historic age in the surrounding area of the temple.
Festivals/Events/Gatherings
At times Lord Shiva is also referred to as Mahadev which means Lord of all the Gods. Saladi No Melo is the popular traditional annual festival. It is a festival which is celebrated on the last Monday of Shravan Month according to Hindu calendar.
