The Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahakali Temple Hyderabad Andhrapradesh temple is known for the deity goddess Mahakali. This temple is estimated to be around 200 years old.
History
The Ujjaini Mahakali temple was built in the later 1815 AD under the direction of Suriti Appaiah. Appaiah was a mason and was sent in a Military Battalion to Ujjain. During the year, Cholera broke out and took the lives of many people. Appaiah and his associates then visited Mahakali Temple in Ujjain to pray for his ill people. They made a wish to God that if their people get well soon then they will build an idol of Mahakali in Secunderabad. The people got well, so after returning from Ujjain, Suriti Appaiah built the Goddess Mahakali idol in Secunderabad. Following the construction work, they found an idol of Manikyalamma and so the idol was placed beside Goddess Mahakali. Later Suriti Appaiah developed Devasthanam. Afterwards, the Endowments Department took the management of the Devasthanam. The great grandson of Appaiah has been made the Member of the Founder's Family, who actively took part in the development of the Devasthanam.

The Ujjani Mahakali temple is believed to be around 200 years old. The temple is known to fulfil the wish of the devotees whoever visit it. The temple is been visited by numerous people every day. During the days of Ashada Jathara, thousands of people visit the temple that generally falls in Sunday and Monday. Since the temple is built lots of people come here to pray, to take the vow, worship and thanks goddess when their wishes are fulfilled.In the temple, you can see the Goddess is sat in Padmasana posture having sword, damaru, spear and amrut vessel in her hands. The idol is carved with stone beautifully. By the side of the goddess idol is Manikyaladevi idol.
Festivals/Events/Gatherings
The temple attracts a lot of people from all over the world. It is known for the fulfilment of the devotee's wishes. Everyday lots of devotees visit the temple to offer their prayers. The devotees specially visit during the festivals like Rangam, Bonalu, Kolupu, Saganamputa, Ptharaju Bali and Ghatotsavam. The temple timings are 6 am to 10 am in the morning and 3 pm to 9 pm in the evening. Some of the important festivals are:Ghatothsavam: It is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month of Ashada. On this day the maidan ghatam is decorated with the flowers and then music and band is played to do 'Vampuja'Kolupu Ptharaju Bali: This day is celebrated on completing the 15 days. This is started on Sunday. Earlier the buffalo sacrifice was carried out on this day but that is prohibited now. Today, people do 'Kushmanda Bali'.Rangam: During the period of Ammavari Jatara, this festival is celebrated. The unmarried women visit the temple and stand on the un-burnt pot. They look towards the idol with true devotion and pray. The mother goddess responds with the declaration of good times coming in the next year.Saganamputa(Farewell) : On Monday, the farewell is given on the ghat. At Mettuguda, all the decorations were taken. The devotees then join the Jatara to record this unforgettable moment.
