Sirkali is one of the most recognized pilgrimage sites in south India. At its core is the majestic Lord Thiruvikiramanarayanan temple. It is devoted to Vishnu and one of the most important 108 Vaishnavite temples in Tamilnadu. It is a historical and well known temple sung by the great poet Thirumangai Azhwar.The town is located at 21th Km North East to Mayiladuthurai and on the highway between Mayiladuthurai and Chidambaram. The town has all the amenities including transport and accommodation. It is half-a-km from the railway station as well as one Km. from the central bus stand.
History
God Brahmma the initiator increased extremely pleased of his advantage of his strength straddling many Yugas. Importance/Significance
In the altar, the idol of Lord Trivikrama can be seen with His left leg above His head, demonstrating with his right, the action of accepting money. He poses according to the avatar of Trivikrama, with the finger of his left hand; he performs an action of asking for additional money, that he was guaranteed by footland. Pushkala Vimana, the vehicle is found above the shrine. The idol of Lord Thadalan is nearby. People also refer to him by the name of as Thavittu Panai Thadalan.In Tamilian, 'Thal' means Earth or World, whereas the word Aalan refers to king. Since God travelled the world on foot, called Him he was referred to as Thadalan by Sri Andal. The sonnets of Sri Andal are chunks of satisfaction and enchantment that are synonomous with the rich culture of Tamil Nadu; they are also known to possess devotional material. Lord Santhana Gopalakrishna can be found situated in close proximity to Andal. Childless couples pray to the Lord, who in turn, pleased by their devotion and prayers, blesses them with an offspring.
Festivals/Events/Gatherings
Devotees offer Tulsi garlands, vastras and sweet pudding as nivedhana. The town of Sirkali is well known all over India and the world, for being the town where Saint Tirugnanasambandar, belonging to the Saivite sect was born. This is one of the 108 Divya Desas of Perumal. The temple is open from 7.30 a.m. - 11.30 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.Also, there is one more temple of Lord Sri Rama in the prakara and one for Sri Anjaneya outside the temple. Two rituals are conducted in the honor of Golden Garuda.
